Activator ~ Chapter One ~ Liz

The table we have put in the middle of the room has worked. No one has come over unless we game them strict permission. They listen to us for the most part. There are not many of us left in the world. Us “Normal” people. The Devils have taken most of them for us and now those of us left are cautious. And those of us that lead the pack is me and my close friend David.

“NO!” He slams his hand down on the desk and I jump startled lost in thought. I look at him and he is glaring at one of the vamps on the other side. “I have told you this numerous tie you can… “

If you take a look at everyone respects him. That includes the vamps. He just holds that power in the room and it always takes me by surprise. I am so used to holding the power in a room that when he walks in I am completely a mess. It takes me by surprise.

“Liz?” SOmeone says my name and I spin around instantly seeing David right behind me.

“Yes?” I ask him trying to keep a clear head.

I need you to go out there and get that guy.” He points out in the hall. There is a guy leaning against the wall just watching what goes on around him. “Bring him here to us.”

I nod and walk around the table. The vamps keep their eyes on me. I walk out into the hallway and a couple vamps follow me. Some spill out from other rooms as well as I walk out of there. They walk towards me and I walk faster stopping by the guy. His brown hair is a little wet like he came from a run. He looks at me and rolls his eyes then looks back at the vamps around us. They don't come any closer and I look at him. I slide down onto the floor leaning against the wall and close my eyes. I know this is the worst place to sleep but I am just so tired.

My eyes fly open and I sit up. Where am I? I look around and realize I'm laying on a bed. Its a table with some blankets and a pillow on it. I get off the table looking around. The room is empty besides me. There is another table next to mine to give the allusion of a king size bed and I walk out the door into the hall. There are vamps hovering in the shadows as I walk down the hallway.

“Back off. Don't make me tell you again.” A deep voice says from behind me. I turn around and find the guy from before. The vamps that were following me have disappeared.

“It's you,” I say dumbly. Of course, it's him I fell asleep this foot.

“It's me. You really shouldn't be falling asleep in vamp territory.”

“I didn't realize this was vamp territory. Last I checked this was our territory and the vamps invaded it. Unless I missed the memo.” I bit back at him.

His eyebrows raised up in the air and he laughs. “You should watch how you talk to people around here. I have heard some of the vamps get violent when you guys talk back to them.”

I roll my eyes. “Yeah, I will be sure to keep that in mind.” I look around “Where are we?”

“Neutral territory neither you nor the vamps control it.” He holds out his hand. “Come. Let's go back to your friends.”

I hesitantly placed my hand in his and he starts walking. Every vamp as we walk by scurrying away as we pass. It's almost as if they are scared of us. We walk through the door and the bams that are in the room hurry to get out. I frown.

“Get out!” David Bellows. Everyone leaves and I go to follow but David grabs my arm pulling me to him. “What were you thinking bringing HIM here?”

I flinch at his tone. “You are the one that told me to bring him here. Why the hell are you yelling at me?”

“You can't tell? He's one of those vamps!”

“No, he's not!” I look at him and he just stands there watching us. “I can't feel anything coming from him.” I glare at David.

“Where were you last night?”

“Sleeping.”

“Where?”

“In neutral territory.”

“There is no neutral territory!” David is yelling at me.

“I was sleeping in one of the made up beds.”

David is about to punch something. “The vamps have all the beds. We have few blankets.”

The color drains from my face. I turn around and find him with his fangs out. He launches himself at David and I scream. “STOP!”

He stops mere inches from Davids' neck. “Why should I?” His fangs sink into Davids' neck and I'm mollified.
“No,” I whisper softly. I turn around and run but I don't make it out the door before he is in front of me blocking me.

“Where do you think you are going?” There is blood dripping from his mouth.

“Away, I am leaving this place and going to try and find others like me that are still out there.” I try to keep from trembling.

“Be my guest.” He moves to the side and I know that is a loaded answer.

I run to the door and vampires surround me once I'm outside. I go to grab my weapon but its gone. Where is my pole? I put my hands up. “Come at me.”

One grabs me from behind and I kick out but one comes at me from the front and I scream. I feel the fangs pierce my neck and I cry out.

“That smell.” one of the vamps murmur close to me.

I'm crying as I feel my head growing faint. The vamp is ripped out from behind me. Someone grabs me as I fall. “What did I tell you!” A voice bellows with anger. It's him, he's come to my rescue again, why? His arms go under my legs as he murmurs “Stupid.” He carries me inside and I hear a roar. “He's awake.”

In less than an instant, my dissent is gone and replaced with alertness. I stand up forcing the guy to let go of me as I see a large black wolf walk out of the room David was in. The wolf comes up to my waist. David.

“David?” The wolf meets my eyes when I say that. “What did you do to him?”

“I simply activated the wolf gene in him. I am something called the activator.”

I get down on the ground so I am on his level and he growls. “You did more than that. Why is he growling at me?” I turn around and see the guy kneeling behind me. I look back at David and frown. He back up and runs into the room. Some of the vamps follow him and I yell. “No! Leave him alone! Please!” I grab the guys arm.

He sighs getting up and walking into the room. I hear a small whimper and run in after him. David has taken out three of the five that followed him in. The guy picks him up by the scruff of his neck causing David to go limp. He hands David to one of his lackeys and they carry him away.

“Where are you taking him?” I ask.

“Just putting him with the others.” He turns to me and smiles. “Come.” he walks out of the room and I just stand there. He walks back in and grabs my arm walking out, dragging me out behind him.

“What others?” I stumble after him because he is walking too fast.

“There are a few others that became wolfs when bit. The only problem is without an Alpha they are uncontrollable. I am having David go with them to get them under control. An Alpha alone will go crazy. He needs a pack and I'm giving it right to him.”

I watch this guy open a hidden door and pull us into it. “Where are we going?”

“You need to understand the fact that the world outside is nothing like the world you knew yesterday. There are a few activators left. This world is on the brink of something new. Us activators are here to help make sure that things progress the way they should. You don-”

“Stop! Stop with this whole activators are running out new age stuff. The simple fact here is your some kind of freak and somehow managed to be close to the top of the food chain.” I instantly regret saying those words because the look he gives me is deadly. “I just…”

“You just what?” his voice is dangerously low. I look away from him and pick an imaginary piece of lint from my pants. He grabs my chin tilting my head up forcing me to look at him. “Answer me. You just what?”

“Nothing, never mind.” I try to look away but he doesn't let go. “I don't know you, I've never met you and somehow you are knowing all this. I just don't understand any of this. Those vamps out there bit me. Why isn't anything happening?”

+
“You want something to happen? I'll put you in with the wolfs and something will happen.” He lets go of my chin and looks at the door. “It is not my choice to keep you away from them.” He walks toward the door and I go to follow him but there is something in my way.

“Where are you going?” My voice is shrill.

“I cant watch this and they don't want me in here.” He leaves shutting the door.

I feel something brush against my leg. I rn for the door but it's locked. One of the wolfs jump at me and I shove it away. Its whimpers and I gasp. “No, I'm sorry.” I run over to the wolf. I pet its head as it lays there. “I'm so sorry.”

I don't hear one come up from behind me. I feel teeth sink into my should and I scream. Another one bites my arm. I scream and cry. The door slams open and the wolfs back away. I'm panting heavily when they guy picks me up. He carries me out the door shutting before turning to the room right next door and laying me down in one of the beds. My heart is racing and I'm shaking.

“I'm sorry,” he says putting a blanket over me. He gets up to walk away but I grab his arm. “You want me to stay?”

Unleashed ~ Chapter Eight ~ Kyoku

“KYOKU!” My goddess yells after me as Quin’s guards drag me away. “Let me go!” I use my shadows to incapacitate one and the other guy just puts a collar around my neck. My shadows disappear and I cant call them back. I can still feel the shadows I left in Myst. I close my eyes as they drag me along the corridors so I can see Myst. “Quin! What do you expect me to do?” She runs at the door as he closes it. He locks it leaving her in the guest room. No windows and no other doors to get her out of there. “Myst,” I say her name and she looks up. “Kyoku?” She gets up and reaches her hand out to me but suddenly she is jolted away from me. I open my eyes in time to see them throw me in the kitchen. “You are on food duty.” One of them says. “I can't cook,” I tell them but they just walk out leaving me there. “You got put on cooking duty too?” A small voice pipes us behind me. I spin around for a quarter second I think it is Myst but then I realize it is the girl from earlier...
