“KYOKU!” My goddess yells after me as Quin’s guards drag me away.
“Let me go!” I use my shadows to incapacitate one and the other guy just puts a collar around my neck. My shadows disappear and I cant call them back. I can still feel the shadows I left in Myst. I close my eyes as they drag me along the corridors so I can see Myst.
“Quin! What do you expect me to do?” She runs at the door as he closes it. He locks it leaving her in the guest room. No windows and no other doors to get her out of there.
“Myst,” I say her name and she looks up.
“Kyoku?” She gets up and reaches her hand out to me but suddenly she is jolted away from me.
I open my eyes in time to see them throw me in the kitchen. “You are on food duty.” One of them says.
“I can't cook,” I tell them but they just walk out leaving me there.
“You got put on cooking duty too?” A small voice pipes us behind me.
I spin around for a quarter second I think it is Myst but then I realize it is the girl from earlier. She looks like Myst, she's about 20, Five foot Five, brown hair that stops just below her shoulder blade. Brown eyes, she is wearing a dirty apron, tattered clothes underneath.
“Yeah, I'm…”
“Kyoku, yeah I know. Alina.” She smiles and grabs a pan from behind me.
“How long have you been in there?” I ask her just standing there.
“For as long as I can remember.” She looks at me and points to a sack of potatoes. “Peal those.”
I try to send my shadows to them but can't. I grumble under my breath and grab the potato peeler. “Why were you put in there?” I start trying to peal a potato and cut myself. I throw it at the wall angry.
“I-I don't remember.” She sighs when I throw it at the wall. “It takes time to peal them”
“I cant do this.” I drop the peeler and slide down the wall smacking my head on the wall.
She puts her stuff down and walks over to me. “You get your ass off the floor. You want to wallow in self-pity that is fine by me but you have to do it after.” I look up at her and see her hands on her hips. “I know he has your girl but you can't do anything about it while you are in here so you might as well put yourself to good use.”
I get up and she smirks. “Will you at least tell me anything you know about Quin?” I start to peel the potatoes and then pas them to her.
“I don't know much,” She slices them up then puts them in the pot. “He was sent to earth because he wasn't like you. He had an angel in him and it made him dangerous. The angel that is in him is simply magic he has no angel complex like you do. You look at things rationally he doesn't.”
I laugh “If I want at Myst's house none of this would have played out the way it has.” I sigh
Her eyebrows go up. “why were you at her house?”
I laugh. “It wasn't like that. She saw me kill someone in an ally, didn't want her to tell people. She was feisty so I may have taken her vocal cords…”
Alina breaks out into laughter. “You took her vocal cords?” She is laughing so hard one of the guys bang on the door.
“Get back to work.” A deep voice tells us but doesn't sound very convincing.
“Sorry, that was priceless.” She whispers and I smile.
