Shifter - Chapter One

Work In Progress

"Rowin, get your head out of the clouds!" Robert snaps his fingers in front of her face bringing the reality back.

With an irritated sigh she focuses her attention on the blue eyed wolf sitting in front of her scowling. His black hair hanging over one eye. "What do you want?"

"You know what's coming, don't you?" His voice a low whisper, barley auditable to the human ear. His fists clenching, eyes turning into wide saucers.

"It only happens every year Robert." Mating season was the worst, it set all wolfs on high alert, causing their senses to heighten.

"No, Rowin this is different. This is the year the legends predicted that the Shadow packs mate -Lucas- will find his One." Robert gave her a look before turning his head. Her gaze follows  his across the room over to Lucas. The shadow packs alpha was a dream to both shifters and humans. His broad shoulder tensing then relaxing as he breathes, those bright green eyes focusing on Rowan.

Rolling her eyes she looked at Robert. "Not more of that crap, what did I tell you? How could a book from a thousand years ago know what was going to happen today?" Her voice is laced with humor.

"The fact that they were able to predict you should tell you something." Robert was referring to the fact that Rowin hadn't shifted yet and she was almost 18. She has all the advanced abilities that come with being a shifter, but she just won't shift, refuses to.

"That could be anyone! Robert, I can't even fathom how you believe in that crap. If Lucas hasn’t found his mate by now, there is a great chance he never will." Rowin's voice raises a few octaves causing the shifter to turn their heads in her direction. Rolling her eyes she shrugs it off, her long black hair flaking down her shoulder Infront of her face.

"Rowin, it's all about the marks. Once there is a visual confirmation the mating process will begin. My parents went thought it."

"Robert, I am done discussing this with you. It is completely pointless. We just keep going in circles." Rowin rolls her hazel eyes that are more green today as she grabs her bag getting up from the table. Robert grabs her arm but she shrugs it off.

"Rowan. . ." Robert is interrupted by Lucas walking over and taking a seat next to Him.

Rowin's breath caught in her lungs. Suddenly the white lunch table they are sitting at seemed much smaller. The table bends under Lucas's elbows as placed on it. "Rowin, how are we doing?" His head tilts in a nod of acknowledgment in Roberts direction.

Rowin rolls her eyes at the undue attention he gives. "Lucas go back to your pack."

Lucas simply shrugs getting back up and walking across the room over to the Shadow pack tables. There were a bunch of these white picnic lunch tables put together as somewhere near 100 students sat eating lunch. It was an odd thing for one to think about. All of the shadow pack in that corner were just the kids in high school. It was by far the biggest pack in the state and they dominated this area.

"Rowin!" Robert seethed just low enough that the other packs wouldn’t be able to hear Him. "That is the soon to be leader of the shadow pack, how can you just brush him off? Their pack could eat ours for lunch." He huffed to make a point.

Her eyes rolled, something that tends to happen when she attends school. The Shadow pack walked the halls of the school like they owned the place. Fitting because they did but no one seemed like they wanted to change their minds. The humans that filtered down the halls knew it and the few wolfs from the Rain pack knew it too. However mean the Shadow Pack appeared to be the only reason her and Robert were at this school was because The Rain and the Shadow packs wanted to try and created a bond between the two by having the packs attend school together.

That was how Rowan ended up in a school the bordered both the town Rainfall and the town Shadows. It was a long standing tradition for both Rain and Shadow packs to attended the same schools. The pack elders thought it wise to maintain that bridge. Some years it meant by forced and there was not much that the 'kids' could do about it.

Laughter brought Rowin back to the present as the lunch room doors clicked shut. "Well maybe the Shadow Packs son shouldn't be such an ass." She hadn't bothered keeping her tone down because she wanted Lucas to hear her.

"Rowin. . ." Roberts tone held the alpha power in it as he continued. "You need to play nice."

Lightning zapped through her making it almost impossible to defy him. Almost. See there was something different about her, it was the same thing that had given her the ability to have never shifted. No one was able to tell her exactly what was different but it was there. She knew it and so did Robert.

Letting out a huff she got up from the table as so watched a blond drape herself over Lucas's lap enjoying the attention. "I need to go to class." With that she dismissed herself to head off to class.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Around 2pm Rowin was at her locker putting her books away when she smelt Him coming. The smell of warm sugar was what the entire shadow pack smelt like. "You have been avoiding me" Lucas stops on the other side of her locker door and all she could smell was the warm sugar.
Slamming the door shut her eyes traveled up from her 5'7 view point to his 6'2. He had a whole head on her but that wouldn’t stop the glare coming from her. "Look I don't know what you hope to accomplish but it will serve as nothing more than annoying me. Now you can go back to whatever Human you were last sleazing it up with before you came over here." With that her right heel pivoted spinning her body out of the direct line of sight of Lucas as she walked away.
"Oh but you see, you seem to be the only girl in this school that won't bat an eye my way, why is that?" Warm sugar followed her as Lucas kept pace.
"Lucas, you have plenty of other girls to bother why must you always bother me?" As the words left her mouth the blond from before comes and drapes herself around Lucas arm.
"Hooooooney what are you doing over here?" Her voice sugary soft.
With a grateful smile Rowin managed to sneak away while he was distracted with a thankful sigh. She could still hear Lucas laughing with the blond as she made her way to the parking lot to meet Robert. He greets her with a hug and she smiles. Yes, Robert was next in line for the Rain pack but did that stop them from becoming best friends? No it did not! Nothing would have stopped her. She is the only wolf that is able to back talk their alpha to be. Some say that it is because of her refusal to shift and other think it is because she is destined to be mated with an alpha.
"We have to go to Lucas's house today." Robert says cutting me to the bone.
"What do you mean we? Can't you just go by yourself?" As selfish as it was she didn’t wanna bother being in the same room let alone in the heart of Lucas's territory.
"The Shadow pack is holding a ball to try and find Lucas's mate. They are holding a separate on for our pack first since we attend school together." Robert had a small smile on his face in regards to this.
"There is no way out of this is there?"
"No Rowin, you have to come, my Dad is making everyone come." The tone told her that there wouldn't be an use arguing he has clearly tried.
"Wait..." The bell went off in her head. Next weekend was prom. "NO! That is prom! What do you mean it's Lucas's party?"
"The Shadow pack didn't want to hold prom at school this year so they turned it into something else to get prom on their grounds." Robert medley shrugged it off like it was something normal.
" Well too bad because I Wasn't planning on going to Prom because I don't have a dress. There are no if ands or buts about it." She let out a small huff.
"Rowin" Robert's Words sent a zing through her body.
Head tilted down wards She agreed. "Fine" she Couldn't argue with the man When he Used his alpha powers. Sometimes She was able to, however this Was not one of those times.
There was a long pause causing Rowan to look up with a small gap as a wolf with black fur that has a soft blue tint in it. Robert trots over to her nudging his head against her stomach
"Let's get out of here before we get seen." She get herself up on top of Robert holding on to his soft fur as he takes off in a sprint towards the wood.
Her arms come around the neck of Robert as tree branches swat at her head. Giggles flow from her mouth as the wind beats around her. Riding Robert as he runs makes her wolf want to come out more than ever but she just can't shift. Don't think she never tried, no, her wolf won't come out. Almost as if waiting for something?
Rowing was pulled out of her head feeling the wind stop as the wolf under her stopped dead in its tracks. Her limbs froze smelling what Robert smelt : Ash. A low warning growl emanate from underneath her. Leaves rustled behind them and suddenly she was aware of the Rain pack behind them. They had been running with Robert. The wolf underneath her lowers its hind legs allowing her to slide off the back as the wolf steps forward. Rowin steps back into a wolf with an auburn coloring.
The impressive wolf stands at the same height at Robert keeping it's body between her and the wolf Infront of them. Dan's tail flicked at her in warning as his smooth voice floats across her brain. "Let Robert handle this." As soon as the words are done caressing her brain Robert steps forward greeting the newcomer.
The wolf bows it's head in submission causing the rest of the wolfs to lose their edge and Dan relaxes slightly in front of her. Robert and the new wolf seem to have some conversation between the two of them because the next moment he is back over nudging his snout under Rowin's hand.
"Back up you go." His words float down the pack mind link as she crawls back up clinging to him. A soft warning growl comes as the new comer eyes them. "He's looking for a new pack. Don't mind him for now, father will decide what to do with Him later."
A snort sounds from behind them. "Like an Ash is welcome any way." Dan's states matter of factley.
"I was" Rowin has a hard tone to her voice as she gazes back at Dan the wolf.
"Yeah well maybe they shouldn't hav-"
"Enough." A zing flows through her at Roberts words even though they were directed at Dan.
"No, I want to hear what he has to say."
As a response Robert takes off into a run taking her the rest of the way to pack lands losing Dan in the process.  "No, You don't"
"What do you mean, I don't? Robert what have they been saying about me?"
"Rowin..." This time there was nothing but defeat in his tone as his head lowers.
"Robert. What. Did. He. Say."
His eyes widen as he looks up at her, with ought knowing it she had put power behind her words forcing Robert to tell her, "There are some wolfs that don't think we should have taken You in. They are anti Ash."
"I WASN'T KICKED OUT OF A PACK!" Anger coursed through her veins hot and fierce. "I'm not like the other Ash's." Her vision blurred as her wolf started to take over.
"Rowin, you need to calm down..." Robert's word were drowned out by the fire coursing through her veins.
"No, you need to-"
"ENOUGH!" That single word was final as the power of an alpha ran through her. She could feel him towering behind her.
Robert looked up wide eyed. "Father we were jus-"
"You were nothing. This discussion ends now." Power filled the air around them as he walks away.
Rowin turns to watch the back receding. He looked so much like Robert, or was it that Robert looked so much like his father.
Wolf and Human both upset at the prospect that they weren't welcome causing Rowin to start walking.
"Where do you think You are going?" Robert yells after her. "Rowin, come back!"
The sounds and smell slowly fade as she strolls into the forest that would take her closer to town.
Unleashed ~ Chapter Eight ~ Kyoku
“KYOKU!” My goddess yells after me as Quin’s guards drag me away. “Let me go!” I use my shadows to incapacitate one and the other guy just puts a collar around my neck. My shadows disappear and I cant call them back. I can still feel the shadows I left in Myst. I close my eyes as they drag me along the corridors so I can see Myst. “Quin! What do you expect me to do?” She runs at the door as he closes it. He locks it leaving her in the guest room. No windows and no other doors to get her out of there. “Myst,” I say her name and she looks up. “Kyoku?” She gets up and reaches her hand out to me but suddenly she is jolted away from me. I open my eyes in time to see them throw me in the kitchen. “You are on food duty.” One of them says. “I can't cook,” I tell them but they just walk out leaving me there. “You got put on cooking duty too?” A small voice pipes us behind me. I spin around for a quarter second I think it is Myst but then I realize it is the girl from earlier...
Superhero story
Now a superhero story thqt is a year old... btw I do not own any of the Marvel charaters in this story... that being said, heres the story... Hi, my name is Jake Kruger and I have a not so exciting power, I talk to fish. Now I'm no X-man and I'm not part of the Brotherhood, but as a kid I was bullied because my power. I look up at my goldfish tank, waiting for a response. Turned on my computer, watching some videos. Then I clicked on the video that changed my life. I clicked on the video and it was about people and fail stunts, one of the people's name was Fish, so I whispered “Do a backflip, Fish”...
Blaming Juliet for Romeo and Juliet (this was an english paper I did)
       Romeo and Juliet, written by Shakespeare, is a story about two young kids from feuding families who fall in love, and then they both commit suicide. While I think there are multiple people who could be to blame, I think Juliet is the most to blame for both of their deaths.         One of the main reasons I blame Juliet is because of her emotions. She is a young girl going through puberty which normally means emotions are everywhere. An example of this irrational behavior is when Juliet meets Romeo at the Capulet party and falls in love with him almost immediately, despite the fact that their families are sworn enemies. “The only man I love is the son of the only man I hate...Love is a monster for making me fall in love with my worst enemy.” (I, v, pg. 24).         Another reason I blame her for their deaths is that she never once told her parents that she was married to Romeo. I feel like if she were to say ‘I can...
